You have harvested your crop. The mandi prices are low right now—every farmer is selling at the same time and buyers know it. You have two options. Sell immediately at distressed prices. Or store your produce and wait for prices to improve.
The problem is you have no proper storage. What you harvested in three months of hard work gets damaged, eaten by pests, or spoiled in inadequate conditions. You sell at whatever price you can get.
This is the exact problem Gramin Bhandaran Yojana was created to solve.

What is Gramin Bhandaran Yojana
Gramin Bhandaran Yojana is a capital investment subsidy scheme for the renovation and construction of rural godowns. Godowns must be constructed outside municipal corporation limits. Rural godowns located in food parks promoted by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries can also avail of this scheme
The scheme has four core objectives. Creating scientific storage capacity with allied facilities in rural areas to help farmers store farm produce, processed farm produce, and agricultural inputs. Promoting grading, standardization, and quality control of agricultural produce to improve its marketability. Preventing distress sales immediately after harvest by providing the facility of pledge financing and marketing credit. Creating a robust agricultural marketing infrastructure by facilitating a national system of warehouse receipts for commodities stored in such warehouses.
In simple terms the government subsidizes the cost of building a proper scientific warehouse in your village or district. You take a bank loan for the construction. The government credits the subsidy against your loan after completion. And you earn rental income or use the warehouse for your own storage — recovering your investment over time.

What a Gramin Bhandaran Yojana Project Report

A bankable Gramin Bhandaran Yojana project report must cover the following sections.
Site and Location Analysis Details of the proposed warehouse site including land ownership or lease, rural area classification confirming the location is outside municipal limits, road connectivity, and proximity to agricultural production areas.
Warehouse Design and Technical Specifications — Proposed warehouse capacity in tonnes, construction design meeting NABARD technical standards, ventilation and moisture control plan, pest management system, loading and unloading bay specifications, and quality testing facilities.
Revenue Model — How the warehouse will generate income — whether through renting storage space to farmers and traders at a per-tonne per-month rate, through pledge financing arrangements, or through own use for stored produce.
Cost of Project—Complete item-wise construction cost backed by contractor estimates, land development costs, electrification, boundary wall, weighing equipment, quality testing equipment, and office space.
Financial Projections — 5-year Profit and Loss Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement, and Loan Repayment Schedule. DSCR must stay above 1.25 for every repayment year for the bank to approve the loan.
