Project Report For Sanitary Pads Manufacturing
Introduction
The project report for Sanitary pads manufacturing is as follow
A sanitary pad, also known as a sanitary napkin, is an absorbent personal hygiene product used by women during menstruation. It is designed to absorb menstrual flow and maintain hygiene and comfort. Sanitary pads are one of the most widely used menstrual hygiene products across the world and play an important role in maintaining women’s health and well-being.
In many parts of India, particularly in rural areas, women still rely on homemade cloth pads as a low-cost solution for menstrual hygiene. These cloth pads are often washed and reused multiple times. However, such alternatives may not provide adequate absorption and fluid retention capacity compared to modern sanitary napkins. As a result, they may cause discomfort and can sometimes lead to health and hygiene issues.
Studies indicate that the use of unhygienic cloth during menstruation may increase the risk of infections and other health complications. Therefore, there is a growing demand for affordable, hygienic, and locally produced sanitary napkins, especially in rural and semi-urban areas where awareness about menstrual hygiene is increasing.
The manufacturing process of sanitary pads begins with the procurement of commercial sheet wood pulp, which acts as the main absorbent material. The wood pulp is then processed in a defibration machine, where it is broken down using carbon steel blades until the fibres reach the desired filament length of approximately 1–1.5 mm.
Once the wood pulp is processed, it is transferred to a core-forming machine, which compresses the pulp into the required napkin shape. In small-scale units, this procedure is usually carried out manually without full automation. The formed pulp core is then wrapped in non-woven fabric, which serves as the outer covering of the sanitary pad.
The wrapping process is followed by sealing using an impulse sealing method, where sealing pads made from nichrome alloy filaments are used to seal the layers properly. After sealing, a positioning sticker or adhesive strip is applied to the pad so that it can be fixed securely to undergarments during use.
Finally, the sanitary napkins are packed in hygienic packaging materials and prepared for distribution and sale in the market.
Market Potential & Strategy
During the period 2015-2020, the Indian biodegradable sanitary napkin market grew rapidly. During the period 2021-2026, the Indian sustainable sanitary napkin market is expected to develop at a CAGR of 34.40 per cent. They are essential for a woman’s cleanliness and overall wellness. They come in a variety of forms and sizes, all of which are equally effective. These napkins can either be one-time use or re-usable. Menstrual hygiene is a major concern in India, where women, particularly in rural areas, face difficulties in obtaining hygienic cleaning solvents and face health risks. There has been a substantial increase in awareness of the benefits of compostable sanitary napkins over the years.
They are environmentally friendly and can be easily disposed of in natural soil. Furthermore, it reduces the risk of infection and skin irritation, and it is cost-effective. – anti napkins, on the other hand, contain chemicals such as dioxins, furans, chlorines, and fragrances that are harmful to one’s health, cannot be reused, and take hundreds of years to diminish.
The Indian sanitary napkin industry is fueled by the country’s strong support from the government. Maharashtra has the largest sanitary napkin market in the country, accounting for the lion’s share of the market. Technological advances, such as superabsorbent fibre technology, have aided the sanitary napkin market in India, allowing industry has focused on introducing higher adsorption abilities in sanitary napkins. In India, rising menstruation knowledge is driving up demand for sanitary napkins. Furthermore, in India, the use of high-quality, environmentally friendly raw materials to manufacture these sanitary pads is propelling the market forward.
