A fishing net, often known as a fishnet, is a net used for fishing. Mesh is created for fishing nets often by knotting a fine thread. Although organic polyamide nets made of wool or silk thread were once common and are still in use, modern nets are typically made of artificial polyamides like nylon.

Types of fishing nets

Hand net :- A hoop and maybe a long, sturdy handle are what hold the hand nets open. They have been employed for sweeping up fish near the water’s surface like muskellunge and northern pike since antiquity. A landing net is a net like this that is used by a fisherman to help land a fish.

Cast net :- The fisher throws cast nets, which are small, spherical nets with weights on the edges. The sizes range from a few millimetres to four metres (13 feet) or so. Hand-flung nets are spread out on the water and sink when they are thrown in this way. As the net is dragged back into position, fish are caught.

Gillnet :- Commercial fishers frequently employ the usage of gillnets in all oceans, as well as in some freshwater and estuarine environments. As a result of gillnets’ potential for effectiveness, fisheries management and enforcement organizations actively monitor and restrict their use. To lower the bycatch of non-target species, string strength, mesh size, and net length and depth are all strictly regulated.

Stake net :- A type of net used to catch salmon is called a stake net. It comprises of a sheet of network strung on stakes driven into the ground for entangling and capturing the fish, typically in rivers or where the sea ebbs and flows.

Manufacturing Process  Of Fish Net 

A way of making a knot is used in a fishing net. The method comprises lifting a weft, rotating an upper hook once until a portion of the lifted weft is hooked around the upper hook, hooking a warp around the upper hook from the opposite direction of the weft hooked around the upper hook, then half rotating the upper hook to detach the weft from the upper hook, lowering the lifting plate, and rotating the upper hook once and a half rotations in the opposite direction of the previous rotation to hook the weft around the lower hook. By using an under hook, the middle of the warp is pulled into the loop. After the middle of the warp has been pulled through the loop, it is detached from the under hook and the weft is inserted into a piece of the looped centre of the warp.
